In the Mood

It's very difficult to get me to sit down and watch a movie.

Same thing with TV shows.

I've just never considered it my idea of a good time.

However, I have spent all afternoon/evening watching Netflix

and let me tell you,

I have found an adorable little movie called, "In Your Eyes".

 

This seemingly inconspicuous gem is the tale of two strangers

on the opposite ends of the country who, via random telepathic link,

discover that they can communicate with each other over the thousands of miles

that separate them... Not using a cell phone.

So it's sort of cheesy, at first.

I found myself feeling foolish for smiling on several occasions, 

but this story is written with an honest feelgood intention

and it most definitely achieves that.

 

Spoiler Alert: I love movies that don't end happily (see Mary & Max), but this one ended as fairtale-ish as it began. While there are plenty of holes in the story, it still holds up as a heartwarming little tale of finding love

you didn't know you had lost.

With some silly little fantasy elements thrown in.

 

Or should I say, "fantasize"? 

I won't spoil that part.

 

Anyways, watching this and Big Fish,

coupled with a swallowed worm

and an itch to get off my ass

has led to my latest poem, "Consonants and Asterisks". 

It's sort of silly and that's alright.

I'm getting my feet wet again.
